iTunes Question/Playlist Sync

I have 1 custom playlist on my iPhone 4 and when I keep trying to edit (taking songs off and putting songs in it) and then sync it to my computer, it takes whatever is on the computer and overrides it on my device so in essence no changes are made. Is there any help out there to get it to stop doing that?

Rename it on the computer

or go into itunes plug your phone in select it then, on the iphone panel select the music tab and tell it not to sync playlist
