Apple Maps...current direction while following a route

Am I missing something or is there not a visual compass rose identifying what direction your heading while following a route..?? Is there a setting for this?

If there is, I don't find it... and this thread made me realize I've never wanted it... I have compass heading built-in to my car's instrumentation/DIC - if I really care about what direction I'm heading I use that...

I drive older delivery vehicles that don't have an onboard compass. This would be very useful. Google Maps has one but I prefer the features of Apple Maps.
