Did the developers know ahead of time that they would have to update their apps to the new screen size or did that find out when the 5 was unveiled?

I actually have an Apple dev account. The day of the iPhone 5 announcement I got the email from Apple giving me dimensions and resolution

They didn't know until the day the iPhone was announced. Until them screen size change was just a rumor.

Ok. I was just wondering when they found out so they could update their apps.

Some had it before, most didn't. Expect a surge of updates over the next month (the same as when the retina display was released).

Yeah....Tapatalk and Dolphin are the last of the major non-game apps I use that haven't been updated. I'm using Chrome now, but I prefer dolphin overall. I'd imagine most games will be a little while, since they need to update artwork in addition to navigation placement. Things like Tapatalk should be pretty straighforward, though.
