In the built in maps app, is there a setting that allows the map to orient with the direction I am driving instead of always pointing north?

I have the 3Gs

I believe it will do that if you tap the little GPS icon in the bottom left corner of the map.

Yes. I believe you have to tap it twice and it will inegrate with the compass.
