Safari on my iPhone 6S Plus

When I'm in landscape mode my safari window opens up in split screen. How do I disable that. been through the settings and I cannot find it.

Maybe it's beacuse you're tilting your iPhone so it gets rotated?

Yes, but how do I stop it from split screen so I can get the whole web page on my screen. It's annoying.

That's not split screen. You have your bookmarks open. Tap the open book icon in the top left. See my pic of circled icon.

That's actually how the Messages app works in landscape. Can't change this one.
