How can I get my iPhone 6 to charge if it won't recognize the cord

Now that I foolishly allowed the new apple update on my iPhone 6, my phone won't charge because it won't recognize the cord as an authentic accessory. I am really using the original Apple cord and its in perfect shape. My phone is almost dead and I have 5,000 pictures unsaved. The charging port is clear of any debris. I used a generic charger yesterday; now it's like the phone has a cookie that keeps mis-reading the charging accessory.

My iPad 1st generation displayed a note on the screen reading this accessory is not for thus device. Had to hunt around until I located a charging cable that worked.

Your cable may have a short somewhere that's not visible. Have you tried turning it over to plug in? That sometimes works with Apple cables. Have you tried a hard reset?
Hold the top or side power/sleep button and the home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears, then release.
