Why am I not getting audible alerts for messages?

Iphone 6 IOS 9. No sounds at all for message alerts, phone, keys, etc. have checked notifications, do not disturb, etc. have rebooted no luck

Have you selected a specific alert tone in the sound settings, and have you made sure that it is also set in the notifications settings?

I am having the same problem after upgrading to 9.2.1 this week. Have already gone through the settings scouring for a reason and have found nothing amiss. Anyone have any solutions?

Just_Me_D, I have checked to make sure that the tones match in Sounds and Notifications. All good there.

If the following are all good then you may have to make a Genius Bar appointment with the nearest Apple Store to have them diagnose the problem for you.

1. Volume buttons
2. Mute switch
3. Do Not Disturb
4. Connected to a Bluetooth device
5. Sound & Notification settings set accordingly
6. If using a 3rd-party messaging app, make sure that to toggle "Allow Notifications" for it in the notifications settings.
