Really dumb question, how do I get a keyboard to come up from home screen for search?

I used to be able to swipe from the middle of the home screen and a keyboard would appear and I could do a global search. For some reason I cannot get the keyboard to come up when swiping form the middle of the home screen. Any suggestions?

Swiping down from the middle of the home screen will get you to the spotlight search.

They changed that. You have to swipe down now.

Don't feel bad. Took me forever to figure out how to do it too.

I do love the swipe up control panel thing. I don't always have a flashlight handy in my barn but I always have my phone on me when I'm messing with my horses. I love the swipe up and there's the flashlight part.
