Left and right speaker?

I just noticed that only the "right" speaker works on my iPhone like when I am streaming pandora or playing music. Is that normal ? In that case what does the "left" speaker for?

the left one is not a speaker, its the microphone. there was a lot of threads about this when the 4 came out. here is a link to one of the threads

That's what I figured. Just wanted to make sure. I thought another hole was the mic but I guess I was wrong. Thanks.

And just to add the hole on the top next to the ear phone jack is a noise canceling mic

If you're one Verizon or Sprint you'll notice a hole on the right side of the device, that's the sim card tray for AT&T and other HSPA carriers...
