itunes cannot read the contents of x phone

Help please! This is the 3rd time I've run into this issue - is it the phone, the computer, any ideas?

I've already restored the phone twice, and it's such a pain, I'd really like to avoid doing it again. Where do I go from here?

I have deleted backups, removed all info from the phone, restored the phone, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes...and this issue keeps coming back.

I wasn't ready to jailbreak, but with all this trouble, I'm wondering "what could be worse?" well, clearly I could brick my phone, and that would be worse, but what say you guys?

following up to my own question - I seem to have found the issue/solution. My wifi got interrupted during sync. This seems to have created a corrupt cdb file. So, I followed directions to use iFunbox to delete the cdb file, all music and pics, videos (so they wouldn't be left orphaned) and, now, the phone appears to be syncing all the music back just fine! hooray!
