Emoticons from iPhone to other phones

Does anyone know of an emoticon app that other phones can see. For example the ones I see in the app store seem to only work from iPhone to iPhone. But if I send one to say a Blackberry user it's just jumbled mess.

Ha, if it was only that easy. If everyone else I knew would just buy an iPhone life would be much simpler.

I remember seeing an app that turns the emoticons into pictures and then other phones and platforms could see them. but it seemed like an extra couple of steps to get there and then send. if I can find it Ill post, but again, it didnt seem like an elegant fix.
