My Sound Settings Have All Become Silent

Please help! iPhone 3.0 no longer rings or notifies when text sent etc. Vibrate still works. What happened?

Try resetting all settings. If that doesn't work, restore it.

This happens to my 3GS from time to time. A reset usu. fixes it.

My co-worker has this on his 3G running 3.1.3. A restart fixes it every time. He's narrowed it down to the home stereo he has. He plugs-in to that when he gets home, it charges off that as well as plays music through the speakers. It seems that the device thinks the audio out is never disconnected and so no sounds are played at all, unless he does a restart.
