International travel question

Ok - not so much travel as when I return. If I turn off data roaming while I'm out of the US what happens when I return and turn it back on?

Are all of the tweets and texts and so forth that I didn't receive while I was away queued up for a flood when I turn roaming back on?

I suppose the tweets will show up via wi-fi when I'm connected over there but the texts won't.

Are they all lost?

Texts & voicemail will wait for you if you never connect for phone service while away. If u connect they will come through. Email and app data will come through on wifi.
