Ringtones for messages

Is there a way you can set mp3 ringtones to text and email messages or do your phone need to be jailbroke. Just got my phone 3 days ago and still trying to learn and play with it.

I have heard that jailbreaking the phone is the only way to do it, as Apple has a locked set of tones for messaging and email. You can add custom ringtones to the phone, but that is about it, when it is not jailbroken.

Jevangil's right. in order to change the ringtone for email, SMS or (eventually for us in the U.S.) MMS, you must JB your iPhone. only thing you can change as an MP3 is your phone ringtone. sux, but more incentive to try a JB and see if you like it i guess.
