Iphone on vibrate/silent?

I was wondering if the Iphone 3G S can be on silent. When some calls the default ringtone would be vibrate since its on silent. I've tried and tried but couldn't figure it out. I love my default ringtone but I wondered if it had silent for school.

There is a physial switch on the top left hand side of the phone flip that and presto! Your phone is on silent.

Oh wow. I saw that switch and was wondering what it was for. I mean I read the "fingertips" handbook thingy about it and it said silent on it. I tried to pushed down on it and nothing happened. And all I had to do was push it down. wow i'm so smart lol

As I've said before. Sometimes the hardest thing to see is the obvious. Happens to me all the time.
