I have been jailbroken for a long time and disable the LS camera using sprintomize. Got my iPhone 5 so this is the first time I have had a stock install since I got my iPhone 4. I googled it but only see info for iOS 5.x so I wanted to make sure I am not missing a way to disable it in iOS 6.

If I set a passcode (I do) why would Apple assume it is fine to take pictures without giving the passcode, stupid.

Because some people want to be able to take pictures quickly without having to unlock and then launch the camera app.

Thanks for the info. To rephrase it is stupid to not give us the option to turn it off. I understand lots of people will love the feature I am just not one of them.

Be sure to go the Apple website and enter this as feedback. They read the feature requests and feedback there and take it very seriously.

They don't read the feedback on these forums...

Reason being is even if someone does use your phone, they can take pictures of videos but to access them they need a passcode. It's a smart idea but there really should be something in the restrictions for disabling the camera grabber thing.

Deaf ears... better just to suffer until there's a jailbreak and the phone is truly yours.

Yep. Absolutely.

Then someone gets ahold of your iPhone - takes illicit pictures of minors then returns your phone - calls the cops and says they saw said photos on your phone. Warrant issued - phone gets confiscated you get arrested - then have a huge uphill battle explaining the child porn on your phone.

Thanks Apple for not giving us an OFF Switch.

I happen to agree with you completely on this. I've been sitting here for 15 minutes trying to figure out how to disable this stupid thing because my kids keep picking up my phone and filling it with random pictures of the furniture, etc. It was cute for a while but having to go in and erase pictures all the time for space is getting annoying. I get the point of having it, but not being able to disable that was a rare bad call on Apple's part.
