I backed up & once iOS5 was installed, my restore didnt work. No contacts, apps, etc!

I have no contacts or apps and my restore keeps failing.

Any idea of what I should do? I really want to get this fixed.

Does the restore return an error when it fails?

The same thing happened to me.

Most of my apps and all of my contacts were wiped out.

Am I screwed or is there some chance of retrieving them?

WTF happened?

I just followed the instructions. Updated iTunes first, then iPhone.

I've never had any problems before.
