I was running the Betas on my iPhone, but never updated beyond iOS beta 7.

Now I'm trying to restore and it wont let me do anything. Keeps giving me an error that my device is not eligible for the requested build. I can't update or restore. The phone works, but its obviously stuck.

Any ideas? I'm running the release version of iTunes and beta 7 on my iPhone 4.

If you're on beta 7 then just get the GM download and install it. I don't think you can go from beta 7 to the official public release on iTunes.

The GM is the exact one that is out today.

I did that and it wont let me restore with the GM. Get the same error that my device is not eligible for the requested build.

download 4.3.5 ipsw
put iphone in DFU mode
do a custom restore with 4.3.5
then upgrade to ios 5.

Worked great for me.

If anyone is having an issue upgrading from iOS 5 beta 7 I found a way to download get iTunes to download iOS 5.

Put your iPhone into recovery mode, then when iTunes says its found an iPhone in recovery mode it'll ask you to download the latest version of its software. That is what I did and I am now downloading the official version iOS 5.
