Why did iMessage on my mac go offline

Earlier today i was messaging but now my iMessage is offline and I don't know how to change to online

Welcome to iMore. Give this a try. Go to: Messages>Preferences>Accounts and enable/add the account that you want to use. Hope this solves it for you.
