Default [GUIDE] Editing A Contact Photo w/Help From The InstaSquarer App

Here's how I like to edit a photo, to assign it to a contact on the iPhone.

Such as a large photo from the web that I may want to assign to a contact.

Hopefully some members may find it useful.

I have a contact here for Apple Inc. with no photo.

To add a photo tap edit in the upper right corner.

Then tap add photo in the circle.

We then get presented with two options, Choose Photo and Take Photo.

Select Choose Photo. This takes us to the Photo library.

Select your camera roll or photo stream, if the photo you want to use resides there.

Then Select the photo you want to use. I have a pic of young Steve Jobs that I downloaded from the net that I want to use.

    Then we will see this.

It obvious the pic is too big and we can't scale it down to fit Steve's head in the "crop circle”.

We can scale up for a interesting effect if we want, like using just his eye in the pic if you want something like that.

But if we want the entire head shot we need to scale it down.

To scale down the pic I use a free app called InstaSquarer.

Download InstaSquarer from the App Store and install and open the app

Select Library on the opening screen of the InstaSquarer app to import the Steve photo. Follow the normal import steps. Camera Roll> Select the Steve pic.

Here is the pic in the InstaSquarer app.

Using the slider at the bottom of the screen simply scale down the pic by sliding it to the left.

Now you want to export the photo to your photo library.

Tap the check mark in the upper right corner and

you will be taken to this screen.

Tap the floppy disk icon on the upper right corner to save to your photo library tap then tap ok.

Now we can go to the contact app and select Apple Inc.(The contact)
or from the Photos App we can select the edited scaled down photo and tap the blue square with the arrow in the bottom right corner.

Swipe to the left at the bottom of the screen to the option "Assign to Contact' and select it. Then select Apple Inc.(The Contact) from the contact list.

    We should see this.

We can now scale up the Steve pic by pinching out to fit the edit circle. Like here.

Now select choose and tap done and here's my contact for Apple Inc with young Steve Jobs.

Now if I were to get a call from this contact number it should look like this.

    As opposed to this.

InstaSquarer is also good for scaling pics for wallpapers.
