I had the same problem, the iPad said "iPad is Disabled"...
Searched all over and then found the fix and it was simple...
1) power off your iPad by holding the top sleep button and sliding off the power
2) connect your iPad to the computer (doesn't matter if iTunes is open but it has to be installed)
3) hold the sleep and home button at the same time and keep holding, even after you see the apple icon, keep holding until you see the screen show the wire and arrow to the iTunes
4) iTunes will open and ask you if you want to update or restore and choose restore
