Why do most app only download in potrait mode

Most apps in App Store don't rotate ? I am using iPad mini 1 ? Thank you

My son owns an iPad Mini and all his apps rotate to either landscape or portrait. Do you have your screen orientation lock turned on possibly. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen and see if the circle with the lock inside it is turned on.
