Why can't I have the sound of the phone only when the phone is locked?

With the 'do not disturb' mode you can choose if you want it to be only when the phone is locked or just always. Why is the option 'only when phone is locked' not available for the sounds?

I'm not sure I understand your question. Might you be able to elaborate on what exactly your wanting? What sounds are you talking about?

If you don't want to receive audible notifications when the device is locked, it may be better for you to simply enable the mute switch on the side of the device AND disable the toggle next to "vibrate on Silent" in the Sound settings.

Confused. You want DND on and still get sound notifications and alerts? If so, don't enable DND.

I think they may only want to hear sounds when the phone is locked. Is that what you are asking? Which is the opposite of the option to silence the phone when locked. Maybe I am reading the question wrong.
