iPhone 6 FaceTime issues or we're having bigger issues?

I

iMore Question

I was on a voice call with my bf and I hung up to attempt several FaceTime calls. From my end, it said the person is unavailable after ringing for awhile. The recipient claimed they received nothing, although when we checked his call history on the iPhone, it was recorded as missed calls. He also said he FaceTimed me and received "error" and phone history shows no such attempts. There were no Mac computers involved. We both have iPhone 6, most updated software.

The "send my location" option via text didn't work for him either while this was going on. We both had no issues on voice call and I was on wifi connection and he was outside, his service signal was not an issue. (His phone is a work phone so could there be restrictions on it?) 7 hrs later, no issues connecting FaceTime when we were in the same place.

How is there a record in his history log of these calls that he didn't receive?

This is a very common, legitimate problem which normally occurs when a boyfriend/husband is at a strip club/ex's place/casino. Normal facetime/location sharing will resume soon after retreating to a 'safe' location.

I was told that I could ask five tech people and they would all give me different answers on how the above scenario could possibly happen. He claims his network is different bc it's a district work phone connected to a larger <insert tech jargon> so it's unlike my regular phone network with less restrictions. The stars all aligned somehow in that instance and technology failed. Remember, technology doesn't always work like how we expect it to. That's why there's tech support. Now I'm awaiting 4 more answers different from yours, Paul. But thank you for the smile you brought to this sad situation.

Could be restrictions it could been a network glitch . I would check to make sure FaceTime is setup on his phone properly with his number and email. Also check location service he might have something turned off.

No problems with FaceTime 7 hours later and location works fine. Could there possibly be a network glitch where FaceTime didn't connect/alert on his phone but shows up in history log?

Hate to say it, but I stand by my first answer 100%!

If it shows in history on the actual device, it connected, no doubt about it. Try putting your phone in airplane mode, facetime it from another phone then see if it shows but didn't ring? I've not tried this so please do let me know if I'm wrong
