Can I download/save/store my photos, documents on Apple TV & erase them off my iPad? Use it as a external hard drive.

Not sure about that one. I know that you can "sync" your iCloud photos to your TV.

Unfortunately no. That feature/function was only available on the Apple TV 1 (the original white model).
