The battery life and whether or not you have to charge it daily depends on your usage. Like kch50240, I charge my Watch overnight, but I don't have to because it's usually in the 70 percentile range at the time. In fact, it's currently at 85%.

I am a heavy watch user and on watchOS2. I take my watch of the charger at 4am and at 10pm I am usually around 50%
