What happened to all my pictures and the ones I had as journals in iphoto?

Only a partial portion of the pictures show up that I had on my phone.

I don't know. Were the pictures in your photo stream? If so, they are only maintained for 30 days, if I'm not mistaken. In the Photos app on your iPhone, select "Albums" at the bottom of the screen and then select "All Photos". I'm *assuming* you're using iOS 8.x.
