Why is my iPod constantly going on mute?

My iPod is constantly going mute. I am constantly having to turn on the volimne.

The little volume mute box with the diagonal slash through it keeps popping up. I add volume and within seconds it pops up again. Very annoying.

Reboot the iPod... if it continues, you may need to restore the iOS if possible.
