When trying to text on my iPad, a box appears that says iMessage, how do I move past this?

When trying to text on my iPad, a box appears that says iMessage..

Then they want my apple ID and Password to sign in. I can't do anything unless i do this and i have never had to sign in previously to text. None of the texts are coming in but they are in on my iPhone.

All of a sudden this happen to me on my iPad several days ago.
I just signed in.
