Would a factory reset fix the low volume problem I'm having with my iPhone 5C?

Hello all, all of a sudden, the ear piece volume is barely audible on my 5C.
Would a factory reset fix the problem, or do I need to make a genius appointment?
I did a hard reset twice, but that did not work.
So I was curious in regards to my options, as I can barely hear the person on the other end. Thanks

First thing the GeniusBar is going to say is restore the iOS... it won't hurt to try that before a GeniusBar visit.

My phone is possessed. It seemed to snap out of it.
I made several calls, and thought the ear piece was toast.
