How do i use my appleTV if my remote is lost?

Sometimes you gotta go obvious- a year or so ago there was someone who posted his remote stopped working- mentioned that the battery indicator came on a few months earlier and wanted to know if his remote was broke- I assumed he changed the remote battery when it said it was low... He didn't...
