Why can't I add mailboxes anymore on my iPad mini?

my mail was working fine until the first ios8 update. Then I could no longer delete mailboxes I had added, but no longer needed. Also I was getting mail but could not send. I got that fixed thru the apple forum. I was also told to delete my accounts and then add them back, which I did, howeve... Then all my added mailboxes were gone with all their contents. Now I can no longer add any mailboxes. When I try to create a new mailbox to move an email to it won't let me add any, I just get options of Inbox, trash, or sent. I have no place to sort my emails I would like to keep. In my mind this defeats the whole purpose of mail.

1. Are you using the native Mail app?
2. What email service are you using?
3. If you created an iCloud or iTunes backup prior to updating to iOS 8, have you tried restoring that backup to see if that helps.
4. You may want to consider restoring your device and then setting it up as new.
