Icloud photo library beta deleted my photostream?! Where can I find it?

so I just enabled icloud photo library beta, and it deleted my WHOLE PHOTOSTREAM. That was more than 700 photos on there since more than a year ago! It only kept photos on my cameraroll. I tried to check on my computer and other apple devices to see if it synced on there instead, but only my camera roll is there! I don't know how to locate my photostream or get my photos back...

My Photo Stream is not meant for storage. It's for streaming photos from one device to another. Photos only stay on Photo Stream for 30 days. Then they delete. Are your photos still on your camera roll? Are the photos in iCloud Photo Library? I use cloud based apps like Box, Dropbox and OneDrive to store photos and videos. Then delete them from the camera roll. I use iCloud for backup of what is currently on my phone. I don't use iCloud Photo Library because it takes up the storage space in iCloud I use for backup. We only get 5 free gb of storage in iCloud.
