How do I get my keyboard to come up to add a contact?

How do I get my key board to come up to add a contact

I am trying to add to my contact list but when I go to the contact list and press+ the blank item list comes up but no keyboard to type into.

After you click the +, you need to click in a field. The keyboard should pop up then.
