Is there any way to search for a contact in the Keypad by the Contacts name?

Is there any way to search for a contact in the Keypad by the Contacts name. Its uber annoying to always go through the Contact app or using spotlight or by double pressing the home button and looking through recent contacts to find the contact and then call them.

Android has this functionality by default. Is there something like that in ios8.

You can search for a contact from the home screen using the spotlight search function. You can also search from within the Phone app by selecting Contacts at the bottom of the screen and then type in the name of the contact you want to call. You cannot search from the dialer keypad, however.
