why is my 5c giving me two pics of same image when taking a pic

when taking a picture I always get two pics and in addition the same pics show up on my wife's 5c

If you take pictures using HDR mode, then default behaviour is to save 2 pictures. You can change this by either turning off HDR in your Camera app, or by going to settings, choosing photos, and turning off the "Keep Normal photo" option.
