My new iPhone 5 with iOS8 will not charge or turn on, what is wrong with my phone?

New iphone 5 with iOS8 won't charge, turn off or on

The phone will not turn on, reset, or do anything except flash an empty battery sign. When it isn't plugged in, it gives the "please plug in" picture. I've tried with different chargers, but it won't change screens even when I press the Awake/Sleep buttons simultaneously.

Obviously, it's a used phone. Is the charger made by Apple? Is the cable MFi certified? Is the charging port clean of dust and debris? And welcome to iMore!

Check the power outlet it self my friend did this and was all pissed until he tried a new outlet and found out the outlet had no power
