Why is there a blue dot on some of my emails?

On my iPad there is a blue dot on some of my emails & if there is an attachment, it will not play them or pull them up

Try rebooting the device. If this doesn't fix the problem, try removing your email account from your device and then re-add it.

The blue dot represents unread email messages. In regard to the attachments, it depends on what type it is. You may need to open the attachment via an associated third party app.
