Why can't my ipad3 play music any more?

It worked before. Now I hear nothing. Is there a utilities folder somewhere? The volume limit in the Music section of Settings says,"off" but I can't seem to change that with the switch on the side of the ipad.

Try the following:

1. Reboot your iPad
2. Make sure the mute switch is not enabled.
3. Play music and then press the + volume key to its loudest position or, if you have iOS 7 or greater, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the Control Center and then slide the volume lever to the right.
