Can you please provide a little more info? If it locked because too many password attempts then you have to wait until the time displayed passes.

Have you ever created a phone lock passcode in settings? How would a 4 year old do this? It can't be done by accident. Not that I can see. If it's a 4 digit passcode, you have 10,000 combinations to try. Otherwise, it's a paperweight.
