Regarding Apple iphone 5

Sir,
My iphone 5 is not charging. When I am connecting it with laptop it is showing USB is not recognized. And now when I have connected it with Wall outlet, it is again not charging. I think it is fully discharged.
Can you suggest me, what is the problem?
I am worried.

I agree...check the lightening cable because it may be your problem!
