On Unlimited Data Plan Verizon

So, if I keep my unlimited data plan (of which I have had for many years & want to keep).......and do a month to month or whenever I need it......how much will it cost me? I am assuming it would be $30 for 2GB for the month......and, do I have to add a line for $10/month also? It seems like too much money just to add an ipad, but I don't want to give-up my unlimited data for $29.99....and pay $30/month if I do give it up for only 2GB data. It seems they "have you" one way or another!
