Calendar Invite alerts

I have an iphone 5. My husband has an iphone 4S. My daughter also has a 4S. I haven't changed anything with any of our calendars. When my daughter sends a calendar invite I get it as a banner where I can chose to accept it...easy...easy!. But, when I receive the invite from my husband, his goes to my emails and then I have to go through several steps to accept. Why the difference?? How can I correct this?

Is your husband using a different calendar service than you and your daughter? For example: You and your daughter have iCloud and your husband has Google?

Ask your husband if he's using a Google Calendar. If you have access to all three devices, go to Settings->Mail, Contact, Calendars and then scroll down to the "Calendars" section. Check to see what is listed as the "Default Calendar" on the devices.
