It started saying 9 hours for me, but is about 25% done now and says 1 hour remaining.

Edit: It has been an hour now, shows 42 minutes remaining. That is just to download it to the watch. Definitely not a quick process, but didn't expect it to be based on what others have said.

Yes it is. In fact, I’m running watchOS 4 in my first generation watch and have been since the initial watchOS 4 Beta was released for it. It takes a while to install the update, but once it’s installed, it works very well.

Got it updating now. Had to turn the watch off/on and make sure my iOS 11 GM beta profile was deleted first. Two hours to go now…

I took my watch 5 hours to update. Made me late to work tonight but couldn't go in with the new IOS.
