Because of the limited search function here, (unable to search the word "off") I can't find any info on this subject. How do you completely turn off the iPod app when you are finished? Once it is on it appears to always run in the background.

It is designed to run in the background. If you want, simply shut your music off before you exit the app.

When it says "now playing"at the top, even though it's not running, isn't that a battery drain?

Think of it as "now queued to play" since it's not actually playing.

While in the iPod app...hold the sleep/power button until the slide to power off screen appears, then hold the home button until the app shuts down. This is how you force quit apps in 3.0. If you force quit the ipod app it will not remember what song was playing.

But it won't use any more/less power.
