NEW YORK (MEDIA GENERAL) ? Since so many Americans rely on smartphones to connect to the internet, post selfies and watch videos, the cost of data is becoming more and more important. To that end, millions of Verizon Wireless customers will now pay less for data. But, you have to ask for it.

Verizon is cutting the cost of many of its monthly shared data plans, according to Paul Ulreich, Verizon public relations representative. Verizon announced it is reducing the price of most plans by $10. It?s cheapest plan will start at about $30 per month.

If you are currently a Verizon customer, you must contact Verizon to get the new prices.
