    Twitter app has a red circle with a number in it. I'm sure there is a highly technical term for this little do-dad but I don't know it. Anyway... wtf is it for and why does it go away but then reappear? I think it means there are "updates" or "notices" but I see nothing in the app that is new. I follow two and am followed by two so have very few tweets to ever view.

    Yes, it's an indicator that you have some type of notification. FYI: They call it a Badge App Icon in Settings.

    It's called a Badge... Open the Twitter App... Tap "Me"... then settings (the gear)...select settings... turn of the badge...
