In my feed I can see everyone's pics but is there a way to view the picture in its actual size or at least larger than appears on my feed?

I haven't found a way to do it yet, I don't think it's possible.

As of now, what you see is what you get. Instagram is meant to be clean and clutter-free...you aren't necessarily supposed to be able to download others pictures and manipulate them, but rather see what they post, as it's posted.
With Facebook's recent purchase of Instagram (for $1 BILLION, mind you) I'm sure we will see subtle changes and small features added...but I wouldn't expect to see anything big change in the interface for a while. Facebook picked it up at a great time just after it's expansion to Android, which will expand the customer base IMMENSELY.
