To preface this, I'm a HUGE Scorsese fan...his films are normally some of my favorites with very few exceptions. Goodfellas, The Aviator, The Departed, etc...just absolute gems of films.

This movie was one of those exceptions. For starters, I'll attack the run time first...it was 3 hours long. THREE F'N HOURS. Now his movies are typically pretty long, so I wasn't surprised when I saw the run time...but for this subject matter, it was just way WAY too much. 2 hours would have been perfect. After that, you're looking at the time wondering when you'll be done.

Now I'm all about gritty, violent, sexual charged movies. I don't mind a graphic movie at all in any regard...but this movie just amplified it to a level that I just couldn't enjoy. Literally every 10-15min. of this film was filled with graphic sex scene...I'm talking full on nudity, and damn near penetration level...to call it soft core porn would be an understatement. I wouldn't mind this a few times in the movie, but you're talking CONSTANT nudity (men and women).

Then there was the drug use. I mean yeah, the big portion of the story was centered around a lavish and luxurious lifestyle of this stock broker, but christ oh mighty, I don't need to be reminded that he does cocaine every 5min. And that's exactly what they did...drugs...every 5min. They pretty much spent 95% of the movie high off their a$$es.

The rest of the movie wasn't bad actually. Watching this progression of a money hungry kid into an absolute Wall Street shark was very interesting. In typical Scorsese style, the guys entire life just unravels and you end up seeing the worst repercussions of all of these luxuries.

In the end, I would not watch it again, and honestly...it was just too much for me, me being someone that actually likes most of what was in this movie, but at a much more moderate offering.

You know..."moral boundaries" and Scorsese films are not typically relatable subjects, but this movie constantly had me going "Ok, we get it...". That gets annoying after a while.

Trust me, I'm not reporting these things happily...I was really hoping to enjoy both films, and left disappointed in both cases. It really sucks.

Agreed D the moral decline in our country is sad very sad. I also read a tweet that said they dropped the F-bomb 506 times in this movie now I mean come on that is way over kill and completely unnecessary. Was this supposed to be based on a real person like 'The Aviator'?

Sean don't know if you watch Boardwalk Empire which is a great piece of television that uses language, violence and sex to interweave characters, plots, deception and base it off the time period of mobster violence giving these things context. From your review it sounds like 'Wolf' just uses that stuff to be shocking and at a deplorable level.

Carried by a raven from the Wall.

This movie was based on the book, which was written by the main character. There was an interview with the FBI agent that finally busted him and he stated that 98% of the stuff in the movie was true. The two items that were not true was that Jordan did not meet Donny in the diner, he met him through Donny's wife and that they did not toss the people at the targets.

The cursing didn't bother me at all, because I curse all damn day (lol)...the movie was just like eating too much cake, it's good at first but then you're tired of it.

I just saw this film yesterday and honestly it's probably the best movie of 2014 thus far. DiCaprio continues to amaze me as an actor. He portrayed his role so freaking well that I'll be damned if he does not get a nomination for it.

I can understand that the amount of language, sex and drug use can bother some people and I even felt like I was watching a Tarantino film at some point(which I love considering he is one of my fav directors), however that being said I thought this movie was amazing and DiCaprio was brilliant! Cannot wait for this to come out on Blu Ray.

I've not seen it yet but have heard it's gotten rave reviews. Guess I'll need to see if it's on MOD and watch at home!
