Don’t need or want a screen bigger than the current iPhone 5... definitely don’t need or want a 4.7" screen.

I have no use for NFC, so that’s another non-starter, as far as I’m concerned...

It kind of sounds like what I’m left with is the current iPhone 5... guess that’s why that’s the phone I use. Funny how that worked out.

I'm gonna be as realistic and practical as possible:

4.6" display, almost no bezel space
2GB ram, no need for 100000gigs here
256GB storage or 128GB but with a microsd slot
Stainless steel sides like the 4/4s
12mp camera with a larger aperture and better image sensor, and better stock software

Realistically?

4"-4.3" screen (I'm perfectly happy as it sits right now, would not be opposed to a very slight increase)
Slight weight INCREASE (truly, i wouldn't mind it feeling like the 4S did)
Significant battery enhancements (like 6-8 hour + life expansion vs. current)
Waterproof (similar to Galaxy S Active, which is IP67, or fully dust resistant and water resistant submersible up to 4 feet)
Audio improvements to external speakers (for playback function and also ringer volume)
Removal of physical power, volume and home buttons (replacement with touch sensitive panels)
Quad core processor
2GB of RAM
Full rear glass panel (IE: 4/4S)...I prefer the feel of it.
Camera hardware improvements (a more legitimate zoom feature, pretty much anything from the Lumia 920, lol)

...pretty much everything else I would want MORE looks to be within iOS 7. The only thing I could think of on a more design front is a color option...I would't mind being able to pick up a differing color than what we have available now (and no, a gold option is not what I mean)...I'm not willing to go with an entry level model for this option though, so it's a really trivial "want".

Current size is the #1 reason I bought the iPhone, so I wouldn't change that at all.
I'd be fine with a little bit thicker, in exchange for more battery (but honestly, who doesn't want more battery).
I like Sean's idea of removing physical volume and power buttons. I'd even go one step further and replace the home button with a capacitive one.
It would make the phone 100% smooth on the front to match the back.
Software wise, I wouldn't change much from iOS7. Maybe add a horizontal swipe gesture to swap apps similar to iPad.
Would also be nice to have a better method of sharing files between different apps without creating duplicates. I don't want a file manager, but some sort of shared documents section might be useful.

Just give me an iPhone with a 4.7-5" screen and I'm set. Currently using an S4 and screen size hits the sweet spot for me. And as much as I'm enjoying the S4, I do miss the iPhone and hope they come out with a bigger display soon!!

My dream iPhone is one in which iOS allows me the option to "select all" and "delete all" other than from the trash folder, reply to iMessages or sms messages from any screen, allows me to place my homescreen icons where I want them and hide or remove unwanted & unused native apps without a jailbreak. The hardware is irrelevant at this point because I'm totally satisfied with my iPhone 5 in that regard and was also satisfied with the 4S before that...

- Ability to set various apps as default
- Kill all switch in app tray
- Return to a one page notification center (those not running IOS 7 will see)
- Clear all option in notification center
